While most comments will be posted if they are on-topic rather than abusive, moderating choices are subjective. We will create them as carefully and always as we could. Due to the volume of reader opinions, we cannot examine individual moderation decisions with subscribers.
We appreciate thoughtful comments representing a selection of perspectives which produce their point quickly and politely. We make an effort to shield discussions from repeated comments either by Exactly the Same reader or different subscribers
We follow the very same criteria for flavor as the daily newspaper. A few things we will not tolerate: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (like expletives and letters accompanied by dashes), industrial promotion, impersonations, incoherence, proselytizing and SHOUTING. Do not include URLs.
We don’t edit comments. They’re either approved or deleted. We reserve the right to edit a remark that is quoted or excerpted within an article. In this case, we might fix spelling and punctuation.
We welcome powerful feedback and criticism of our work, but we don’t want comments to eventually become bogged down with discussions of our coverages and we will moderate consequently.
We appreciate it when readers and individuals mentioned in articles or blog posts point out mistakes of fact or emphasis and will investigate all assertions. However, these suggestions should be transmitted via e-mail. To avoid distracting different subscribers, we will not publish comments that suggest a correction. Instead, corrections will be created in a blog post or within an article.
