Poetry that is inspiring and motivational

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill;
once the funds are low, and the figures are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a little-
Rest if you have to, but do not quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
and you may never tell how close you are
it could be near when it seems so much;
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit-
It is when things go wrong that you have to never quit.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired of waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
And don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with triumph and tragedy
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make 1 heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone, then
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the will which says to them: “Hold!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings — nor lose the frequent touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, even
If all men count with you, but not too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the earth and everything that’s in it,
And — which is more — you’ll be a man, my son!

Barter

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children’s faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of stone,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And to your spirit’s still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or may be.

Invictus

Out
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of those years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I’m the master of my fate:
I’m the captain of my soul.

The Sisterhood

Many women have found a lump,
Just a dimple, a bulge that is teeny.

However, to listen to the doctor say the worst,
Is sufficient to create your bubble burst.

No one knows the ideas the fears,
But one who’s shared these very same tears.

It is a special group who knows this scare,
A Sisterhood who is there.

To Assist You through the start stage
Of anger, anxiety and boundless rage.

They’ll talk you through the reduction of hair,
Or burning the skin, for they have been there.

That never end,
They are there with cheers and hugs to send.

For there is plenty to do, they will gather together,
With hope and faith, and prayers for you.

Because they care it is a bond that is genuine ,
This Sisterhood that’s always there.
