Microsoft is currently pausing Spectre- and Meltdown-related security patches for AMD machines as first.

Consumers took to the firm’s service forums en masse, with the majority of complaints coming out of users with Windows machines operating on AMD chips.

The business has acknowledged the problem, also blamed it about AMD and its own documentation: “Microsoft has reports of customers with a few AMD apparatus getting into an unbootable state after installing current Windows operating system security upgrades,” Microsoft’s post reads.

“After exploring, Microsoft has determined that some AMD chipsets don’t conform to the documentation previously provided to Microsoft to create the Windows operating system mitigations to safeguard against the chipset vulnerabilities called Spectre and Meltdown.”

Customers that found their computers not able to boot after the update needs to now see Microsoft’s support site to reestablish their devices, while both Microsoft and AMD function to resume the availability of patch-equipped software upgrades.
