Is the Keto Diet Better Than Low Fat Diets?

Brad Schoenfeld has studied the current data available and they have concluded the following:

“I have no problems with using a ketogenic diet for fat loss; it’s viable alternative given it matches your personal lifestyle. I do have problems people who continue to promote the diet as the superior choice for losing body fat, especially when they ’re making money from such claims.

This’s slide from my demonstration on fat loss diets, revealing the current meta-analysis on all controlled studies as the two protein and calories are closely controlled involving keto and low-carb diets.

As shown, there’s no metabolic advantage to keto (also in actuality, a small advantage was demonstrated for LF though IMO it’s of little effect). Don’t get caught in by the hype.

When fat loss is the goal, make a caloric deficit, then eat higher amounts of protein (~2 g/kg) and the number of carbohydrates versus fats should be based on personal preference. Adherence rules supplements. ”
