Dieting can become a terrible habit, and crash diets can be quite bad for your health. Furthermore, they are also ineffective for weight reduction.
Normally people use diets through a temporary period where they have a tendency to lose X amount of pounds.
There is that high school reunion in 3 weeks or that beach trip in two weeks and you also would like to look fabulous in your own asses.
You begin losing a little weight by starving yourself and depriving your body of these foods that they need and actually like to consume.
Then when you’re somewhat satisfied and/or tired of not being able to eat your favourite foods, you go back to your old ways of eating and end up putting on more weight then you had before.
Months after, you’re fed up with your entire body and attempt still another diet to get ready for that next major event that you would like to look great for. The crash dieting begins again. It’s a never ending cycle.
Sound familiar?
That is known as the rebound effect and it’s terrible for the body as it impacts your metabolism to the long term and you end up gaining weight much faster each time.
The bottom line is…
Diets do not work.
A Brand New Way of Thinking
If you want to lose weight, let us drop the dieting. The term “diet” seems too temporary and is frequently associated with a lot of crash or fad diet plans like South Beach, Atkins, etc.. Incidentally, I do not endorse any of these.
How ’bout adopting a new phrase rather — fresh eating habits. To put it differently, make permanent decisions to cut out specific foods and substitute them with fresh ones.
Naturally, you’ll treat your self from time to time together with your favourite foods. You should never fully deprive yourself of all. In any case, if you’re eating healthy 80 percent of the moment, the ice cream cone won’t kill you.
This is a permanent lifestyle change and also eradicates the rebound effect wherever your weight goes up and down just like a yo-yo.
Now you might ask…”But what if I need to drop the weight fast”?
If you get rid of the weight too fast that probably means you’re starving yourself and/or not getting the essential nutrition your body needs to be healthy. That’s never good no matter how much weight you’re losing.
Plus, weight loss which occurs too fast can severely screw up your metabolism and cause you to gain weight faster than you did previously in case you begin eating the wrong foods again.
I get emails all of the time about how can someone shed 30 lbs in 2 months. That’s just not realistic, nor can it be healthy. You must give this time.
The secret to a healthy, successful weight loss plan is one which consistently cuts out the saturated fats, also entails exercise at least 3 days/week and raises the quantity of protein and fiber you eat. And yes, it will take some time.
You should also be eating more meals, more frequently because digestion actually can help boost your metabolism. (Be sure that you’re eating the proper types of foods, though).

- Eat brown rice rather than white rice
- Drink water rather than pop up
- Eat turkey bacon rather than pork bacon
- Drink berry juice with low/no sugar rather than sweetened juice
- Eat oatmeal rather than cereals high with sugar
- Eat roasted potato chips instead of regular chips
- Eat popcorn (cooker popped or warm air) rather than microwaved
- Want a light bite? Eat almonds rather than potato chips. If you need to eat potato chips, pick the lower fat manufacturers and consume fewer of these
- Eat whole wheat pasta rather than white bread
- When you buy meats, pick the thinner varieties
- If you visit a fast food restaurant, purchase grilled chicken or some salad. Fast food restaurants provide choices that are healthier and salads now.
- Pick one day a week where you are able to eat whatever you want! (This is very important and helps avoid burnout.) Just be sure to not overdo it. ;-RRB-
Notice I am not suggesting you starve yourself. You are just making healthy choices with the foods that you consume.
What About Calories?
Now you might be wondering about cutting calories.
Well should you make healthier food choices like those above you will obviously be cutting off calories (and fat) as the alternate foods I suggested have fewer of these.
Also, once you’re eating out in restaurants, consume half of the meal rather than attempting to devour the entire thing. The next day, save the rest for dinner or lunch. Portion control is extremely important.
When the pounds begin to shed and somebody asks you in case you’ve already been dieting? Inform them you’re not about any diet plan, you’ve only improved better eating habits.
Keeping your weight under control isn’t about dieting or starting the latest crash diet fad every time the pounds begin to come back on. It’s about changing your eating habits to life! Your metabolism and your body will benefit you.
